As George bent over to "baptize" someone in the crowd below, 
somebody grabbed ahold of the neck of his guitar.  Soon, a few people 
had their hands on his guitar and were slowly pulling him farther and 
farther down into the crowd.  All the while, George continued playing.
His guitar tech ran from back stage carrying a second guitar.  George 
then unhooked his guitar strap, sending his guitar down into the crowd, 
grabbed the replacement guitar and continued playing.  He never missed
a beat.  It was an incredible sight.
 
By the time George Thorogood & The Destroyers and the J. Geils band had 
finished performing, there really was no need for the Rolling Stones to 
take the stage.  The openers had stolen the show.
